European Grain Festival

Bakers, chefs, farmers, millers and researchers gather in Mols for two days of field talks, tastings and sharp conversation on grain diversity, organic breeding, baking culture and the future of food.

After seven years, the European Grain Festival returns to Denmark, bringing bakers, chefs, farmers, millers, breeders and researchers from across Europe to Kalø Organic Agricultural School in Mols on 25–26 June 2026.

Held alongside the fifth edition of Let’s Cultivate Diversity!, the gathering has established itself as one of Europe’s most distinctive platforms for conversations around grain, biodiversity and the future of food systems. With accommodation tickets already sold out and only a limited number of day tickets remaining, interest in this year’s edition is already running high.

At the heart of the festival is a demonstration field showcasing hundreds of grain varieties from across Europe. Around it unfolds a programme of talks, tastings, workshops and field demonstrations exploring everything from organic breeding and regenerative agriculture to baking culture, nutrition and contemporary food production.

The speaker line-up reflects the festival’s uniquely interdisciplinary approach. Among the featured voices are cereal chemist and baker Andrew Ross, organic breeding pioneer Anders Borgen, chef Emilie Qvist, anthropologist Laura Valli, baker Sébastien Boudet, researcher Grace Maher and grain specialist Fintan Keenan. Together, they represent a spectrum of expertise rarely found within a single event.

This year’s programme is organised around five themes: the culinary future of grain and baking culture, agronomy and breeding, grain and health, organic grain systems for the future, and the political and market conditions shaping the grain chain. Rather than treating these topics as separate conversations, the festival brings them together under one roof, connecting the people who grow grain with those who transform it into food.

The experience begins before the official opening. On 24 June, participants can join an excursion to Kornets Hus and Aurion’s mill, followed by a welcome dinner hosted by Grønt Marked. It is a fitting introduction to a festival built as much around community and exchange as it is around knowledge.

Organised by Landsorten and supported by a wider Nordic and European network working with cereal diversity, the European Grain Festival arrives at a moment when conversations around resilience, biodiversity and regional food cultures have never felt more relevant. For two days in Mols, grain becomes the lens through which those conversations unfold.
